grand coulee from visitors center

what a weird and amazing place.
very quiet very mosquitoy and just one in many odd little spots in the channeled scablands.
I made it out with about twenty mosquito bites- the first time i got muched like that in ages- tried to figure maybe it could have been theraputic?
although i haven't really heard of anyone using mosquitoes  therputically.

bird of prey hunting over grand coulee

oh osprey !
for a bird i never saw until i moved here i am very familiar with you now.
usually you've got a right big f*ck off fish in your claw.
this time you dont but you are looking for it , won't be long i am sure.
i love your looking down face.

Swallows at Abandoned Motel, Near Steamboat Rock

these are pretty damn good structures for some little birds - what would be the human equivalent? an adobe? the birds were living inside and outside and swooping down and up and to and fro in the space in between buildings,  as only swallows do.
if i could have a work crew of swallows to assist in building my earth ship and maybe some woodpeckers employed to do fine carvings...
if only i had the animal translator that talula wanted me to buy then i would totally hire the animals to sort this whole thing out.

Palouse bales of hay and other streaming car photography

 they look miniature
these wee bales.
the trees look sad and the radio towers firm.

wheat in palouse

can you spot the wheat bird?
what a trip for a celiac.
glory be frankenwheat- some weird monstrosity created in a laboratory to feed the masses - higher in gluten then it's predecesors.
turn the car air to circulate the air in car vs drawing new air in as dust blows over the hill of wheat and the wheat bird.

Dry Falls - the wet bit !

down at the bottom of the dry falls there are some wet spots.
marshes filled with ducks and friends  we tried to be silent but our presence was noise enough in this quiet spot.
the heat was tremendously warming and i will never complain of heat!
it felt good to suck down some water and have a couple snacks whilst being at the bottom of this immense dead waterfall.
when the water fall died and we had a picnic.
chapter one.

please see more dry falls here
