What was blooming on Mt Rainer

 September 14th, 2013
the day after our ten year wedding anniversary and in the majesty of Mt Rainer's Paradise.
trickling Mountain streams and still in mid September brightly colored wildflowers scattered across the meadows.
AND the Marmots, play fighting in the fields getting plump for hibernation, the Marmots are pretty cute.

Paradise , Mt Rainer some tidbits to keep me til next time

The visit as always went to fast.
It was the first time since 2008 we had been and Paradise wasn't covered in snow.
Last July we experienced a blizzard there, this year September gave us 84 degree glory and all the clarity of the Mountain which we had never experienced before.
Aptly named Paradise provided this green glory.

the other bird at paradise

ok so there was a ton of clarks nutcrackers  and then these little fellows. i followed on e for a bit -  looking terribly bedraggled and damp in the snow. like it should have worn a coat but it had already been put away- and who knew the snow stopped weeks ago and began just this day.

blizzard on june 24th paradise Mt Rainer

out last day in the Mt Rainer area. we drove from green water through the national forest to paradise and down through ashford.
we encountered several weather conditions varying from rain to fog, and then to snow.
too much snow for talula who wanted to build snow men and dogs - potentially with anatomical correctness (as correct as one can be with frozen hands in snow.)
unfortunately it was not fun snow and talula did not appreciate the fact it snowed at us whilst there -
it apparently hadn't snowed in ages except for this day.
